Florence Reynaud LAC/LMT

About me

Welcome to On Point Wellness. My name is Florence Reynaud. I have 30 years of experience in the field of acupuncture, oriental medicine and therapeutic massage. My journey in holistic health began with a great source of inspiration from my maternal grandmother who introduced me to herbal medicine and acupuncture during my teens.I proceeded to earn a degree in massage therapy in 1988 in Toronto, followed by an acupuncture degree in Montreal in 1994. I completed a 10 weeks internship at Shandong College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Jinan, China, where I worked alongside Chinese doctors in a hospital setting. It provided me with invaluable practical experience in traditional Chinese medicine. After practicing in Montreal for several years, I moved to Baltimore, earned a degree in community health education at Towson University and completed an internship at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Public Health. Since moving to Plattsburgh in 2005, I have had the honor to work alongside with Dr. Joe Odnoha at Plattsburgh Family Chiropractic and with Elizabeth Pearl at Pearl P.T for several years. I am blessed to work with Shannon, Jessie and Brooke at On Point and these collaborations have enabled me to widen my understanding of the healing and therapeutic process and provide me with great referral options for my patients. On Point Wellness opened its doors in the fall of 2020 in the midst of the Covid 19 pandemic and this small office setting provided a save place for our clientele and for us practitioners to work. It is truly my happy place and my dream come true. I am passionate about my work and the amazing people who come to see me. I treat each person with the best individualized care and many of them I have known for years. I am very thankful for their teachings and continuing trust 🙏🏼. Wishing you a beautiful day and remember to slow down a little so health and happiness can catch up with you🌸.

My Specialties

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a key component of traditional Chinese medicine that involves the insertion of thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body known as acupuncture points. These points are located along meridians, which are pathways through which qi (vital energy) flows. The practice aims to balance the flow of qi, thereby promoting healing and improving overall health. Acupuncture is used to treat a wide range of conditions, including chronic pain, migraines, anxiety, insomnia, and digestive issues. It is also known for its ability to enhance well-being, reduce stress, and support the body's natural healing processes.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Consultation

A traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) consultation is a comprehensive assessment process that evaluates an individual's overall health and well-being through the lens of TCM principles. During the consultation, the practitioner gathers detailed information about the patient's symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, and emotional state. Diagnostic methods include tongue examination, pulse diagnosis, and observing the patient's complexion, posture, and voice. The practitioner aims to identify imbalances in the body's qi (vital energy) and other fundamental substances (such as blood and fluids) and diagnose patterns of disharmony according to TCM theories. Based on this diagnosis, a personalized treatment plan is developed, which may include acupuncture, herbal medicine, dietary recommendations, lifestyle changes, cupping, and moxibustion. The goal is to restore balance, enhance the body's natural healing abilities, and promote overall health and well-being.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy that involves the burning of a herb called mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) to facilitate healing. The practice typically involves placing moxa (the prepared herb) either directly on the skin or indirectly above the skin, often near acupuncture points. The heat generated from the burning moxa is believed to penetrate the body, enhancing the flow of qi (vital energy) and blood, reducing pain, and promoting overall well-being. Moxibustion is commonly used to treat conditions such as arthritis, digestive issues, menstrual cramps, and to boost the immune system.

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient therapy used in traditional Chinese medicine, involving the application of cups to the skin to create suction. This technique uses glass, bamboo, or silicone cups, which are placed on specific areas of the body. The suction draws the skin and underlying tissue into the cup, promoting increased blood flow, reducing muscle tension, and encouraging the flow of qi (vital energy). Cupping is commonly used to alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, improve blood circulation, and promote relaxation. It can also help with respiratory issues, such as colds and bronchitis, and support the body's natural healing processes.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is a therapeutic practice involving the manipulation of soft tissues in the body, such as muscles, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissues. The primary goal of massage therapy is to relieve tension, reduce pain, improve circulation, and promote relaxation and overall well-being. It is used to address a variety of conditions, including muscle soreness, stress, anxiety, and injuries, and can enhance physical and emotional health. Massage therapy can be customized to meet individual needs, ranging from gentle relaxation to deep tissue techniques for more intensive therapeutic effects.
